My name is Susannah and writing has long been a passion of mine, and as I slowly plod away at the manuscript of what I hope to one day be my first published book, I also write a column for the publications my husband and I own in the south-west suburbs of Brisbane.
I started this blog in the hope that it provides a wider platform and satisfies those who wish to read what I write, yet live outside the distribution areas of our publications. It has evolved into something much more than simply reproducing my monthly column over the years. I have ‘met’ so many new friends and had the privilege of sharing my thoughts and feelings with a truly wonderful bunch of blog followers, for which I am thankful and always humbled by their kind words and support.
I am a follower of Jesus and entirely subscribe to His way of life, and in spite of my own failings and imperfections, hope to display the reality of who He is to those around me.
This blog is not about pushing my own opinions, though. Rather, I am looking to explore life in such a way as to enlighten and broaden my own thoughts and perspectives; and, just maybe, yours too.
I claim no ‘specialness’ and hope to simply share my observations, thoughts and ideas, with the dream that we can begin to bring a little harmony into our own worlds and the worlds of those around us.

Hi my name is Sue, haven’t done this before but I really love what you write in “Personally Speaking”. This months article was particularly speaking to me about choosing to be an optimist. My husband and I choose to live that way. Well at least we are a work in progress. You said you were 14 when you wanted to change from being shy etc. Well I was 21 when that moment came to me. I chose to travel with a friend over to the UK from NZ (yes I am a Kiwi). It was the scariest thing I had ever embarked on. But I did it, and stayed over there for 2 years. I really got to see who I was all about.
Anyhow keep up the good work.I like others love reading what you have to say.

Hi Sue 🙂 What a brave thing, to move to another country! Although I did not do it to that extent, I am a big advocate of kids moving off and finding their way, and like you said, seeing who they are all about. Our son moved to another state straight from high school, at just 17. It has made him who he is today and his maturity levels are far greater than others his age, largely, I think, due to this experience.
I like what you said about being works in progress, too. That’s really what it’s all about, isn’t it? We are never finished!

Ok, I know you are not the “tech support” but I follow your blog and when your emails come to me it just has a small excerpt and I click it to “read more.” When my emails go out even if I type an excerpt the email still sends the entire blog…. I think I’m missing a step. Care to shed some light in that direction to a fellow blogger?

Hey Kameron,
If you go to Settings on the left hand side in your dashboard page and then Reading, not far down it says ‘For each article in a feed, show: full text or summary.’ Click summary. I think that should work!

Thank you for the recommendation/suggestion-I will do it soon-hopefully, in the next few days. I do not know what to write-where to start, what to include, etc-this is what has been preventing me from writing an “About” page.

Have a look at other blogs ‘about’ pages and see what they say, then model it loosely on one you like. It needs to be engaging with just enough information to give readers a sense of who you are but not an information dump or overload. You can do it!
